Maureen Sauve - President
Maureen was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, as a middle child in a family of ten. She and her husband own and operate 8 Tim Hortons in the Hamilton area, including the original store on Ottawa St.
Maureen was diagnosed with systemic sclerosis in 2003, and became active with the Hamilton Support Group. She joined the board of the Scleroderma Society of Ontario in 2005, and became president in 2007. The Scleroderma Society of Ontario operated under the umbrella of The Arthritis Society of Ontario until 2008, when the SSO became a separately registered charity with the CRA. Maureen oversaw the separation process, and the development of the new organization.
Maureen joined the board of the Scleroderma Society of Canada in 2008, and assumed the role of president in 2010.
Maureen participated as a patient representative in the analysis of the Canadian Scleroderma Research Group’s Patient Survey, and provided the lay summary which she presented in Florence, Italy at the 1st World Congress on Systemic Sclerosis.
Maureen is currently a member of the steering committee for the international research consortium, “SPIN”-Scleroderma non-Pharmaceutical Intervention Network, along with Dr. Brett Thombs (Chair), Dr. Dan Furst, Dr. Dinesh Khanna, Dr. Luc Mouthon, Dr. Poiraudeau, Dr. Maureen Mayes, and Dr. Malcarne .
